Why Seppuku.US?
Many people have asked me "Why do a website about seppuku?"
There is no easy answer to this question. I like Eastern cultures (Japan in particular) and I seem to have created a few quotable sayings involving seppuku. I have also collected sayings and quotes from other texts I have read. It seems natural enough to me to talk about it, but I understand that there are those who might have trouble with the concept. Of course, many (if not most) average Americans do not know what seppuku is in the first place.
Oh, and Seppuku.com was already taken.
How Was Seppuku.US Made?
I am using a combination of Javascript, HTML and PHP with a MySQL database for the back end. I am a big proponent in making the users experience as simple as possible so I decided to make the site as server-sided as possible. In the Future I would like to use some Flash and some Java, but I will keep them off the front page to keep download time low. For news on what is happening and what I'm working on at any one time, you should check my blog.
Who Did Seppuku.US
Call me Kaishaku (though my real name is Leland D. Olson). I am a software engineer for a small manufacturing company where I primarily do database programming in Visual FoxPro, Visual Basic, and PHP with MySQL. To contact me send e-mail to kaishaku@seppuku.us.
Art direction is done by my room-mate Ken Reed (AKA Kensai) and he can be contacted at kensai@seppuku.us.
Also, thanks go out to my many friends for their support and ideas for this project.
